Those calling AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi a child compared to BJP Prime Ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, will get a befitting reply on February 23 when Rahul Gandhi address a ‘historical’ rally in Dehradun, said AICC national secretary and Uttarakhand party co-incharge Sanjay Kapoor. He stated this while addressing  media persons at Congress Bhawan after his arrival here to review arrangements for the AICC vice president’s public rally slated to be held at the Parade Ground on Sunday.

Kapoor said that considering the enthusiasm he had witnessed among the youth, ex-servicemen, public in general and the party cadre in the State, Rahul’s rally was bound to be a historic occasion. “This rally will break all past records and will be like nothing seen before in the State. During his visit to Dehradun, Gandhi will review the works executed in Uttarakhand after the disaster experienced last year. Apart from chairing this meeting with officials concerned, he will also meet ex-servicemen and interact with the media persons in addition to addressing the public on Parade Ground. Considering the enthusiasm in the public for this rally, I can say that a large number of people from both Garhwal and Kumaon regions will be arriving in Dehradun on Sunday to hear Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

Responding to the BJP calling the Congress vice-president a child compared to the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said that the crowd at the rally would give a befitting reply to such criticism.

“Even children at times end up doing things which surprise the elders,” he said while also refuting allegations made by opposition leaders about the Congress planning to transport people from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh for increasing the crowd at Rahul Gandhi’s rally. Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Suryakant Dhasmana was also present on the occasion. later during the day Kapoor along with PCC chief and Cabinet minister Yashpal Arya held a meeting with the Dehradun District Magistrate BVRC Purushottam, SSP Ajay Rautela and other officials to review arrangements for the rally on Sunday.

Kapoor and Arya also reviewed the arrangements for Sunday along with cabinet minister Pritam Singh, party state general secretary Vijay Saraswat, Saket Bahuguna, spokesman Dhirendra Pratap, office holders, Women’s Congress office bearers and councillors.

While Kapoor exhorted the party workers to make an all out effort to ensure success of the rally, Arya declared February 23 an “examination day” and exhorted the party workers to score full marks by bringing a record number of people to the Parade Ground for the occasion.
