PNS

Opining that the Bharatiya Janata Party has accepted defeat before the elections, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay said that Congress national vice president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Uttarakhand will provide a big boost to the Congress party ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections 2017.  The PCC chief also averred that following the demonetisation step of the Central Government, the people frustrated with the resulting problems are joining the Congress party. Further, the PCC chief also said that he is in favour of allotting party ticket to only one person from one family rather than more than one person of the same family for the coming Assembly polls.

Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here on Tuesday, Upadhyay said that the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is slated to visit Almora onDecember 23 to address a large public gathering. The PCC chief opined that the party national vice president’s visit to Uttarakhand will provide a considerable boost to the party and its cadre in the state. On the other hand, the demonetisation step taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government has caused such travails to the public that many are joining the Congress party. The disappointment among the masses due to problems faced after demonetisation will  also impact the coming Vidhan Sabha elections. The people will give a befitting reply to the Central Government led by prime minister Narendra Modi in the coming elections, added the PCC chief.

The PCC chief further said that the BJP appears to have acknowledged its defeat in Uttarakhand even before the Vidhan Sabha elections-2017 which is why the BJP has spoken of releasing its list of candidates after implementation of the model code of conduct for the elections. In response to queries, Upadhyay said that the Congress party high command will decide as to how many persons from one family will be accorded party tickets to contest the Vidhan Sabha elections though on his part, he would recommend in favour of allotting party ticket to one person from one family.
