A silent protest was staged by members of Citizens For Green Doon in front of Gandhi Park to protest against the efforts of the Central Government to suppress the activities of Greenpeace in India. The protesters bound themselves in rope and tied a black ribbon around their mouths to symbolise the attempted suppression of Greenpeace.
CFGD chief coordinator Dr Nitin Pandey said that the recent seizing of seven bank accounts of Greenpeace and statements of Home Minister attributing ulterior motives to the campaign of Greenpeace to save the environment in India is deplorable.
He said that Greenpeace has always stood for environment even in face of massive Government suppression all around the globe.
