PNS

Taking cognizance of the complaint of a passenger the general manager of Uttrakhand Transport Corporation has ordered an inquiry in the incident involving the Pauri-Dehradun bus service where the bus driver allegedly drove the vehicle with a punctured tyre for more than two kilometers putting the lives of passengers at grave risk in the process. The GM has asked that the inquiry committee should submit its report within seven days .

One of the passengers’ assistant Professor at faculty of expressive cultures, media and communication in Himgiri Zee University, Poojan Negi had lodged a complaint that on November 29 the driver of the Pauri- Dehradun high tech bus service drove the bus on puncture tyre for more than 2 kms. When the passengers protested the driver said that bus is not having the jack for changing the punctured tyre.

The driver even misbehaved with the passengers when they demanded refund of the ticket amount. The complainant said that place where the driver asked the passengers to take another vehicle was in mid of a forest area. She alleged that the conductor should have returned the entire ticket amount according to the rules but he only refunded the amount of ticket from Devprayag to Dehradun.

In her complaint Negi alleged that the spot where the tyre of the vehicle got punctured was a mountainous terrain which put the lives of the passengers at peril. She said that absence of jack in the bus proves gross negligence on part of the transport corporation authorities.
