After arrest of Additional Secretary, Home, Janardhan Prasad Joshi in connection with rape case registered by a woman who had accused him of sexually exploiting her, the special police team started its investigation on counter FIR registered by Joshi under sections 355/304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the complainant and two other persons at the Vasant Vihar police station in Dehradun.
Moreover, Joshi received a setback after court of CJM denied him bail on Wednesday in the case of alleged sexual assault. Sources revealed that Joshi’s advocate had filed a fresh petition for his bail on Wednesday but the court of CJM rejected the bail plea. Now, Joshi’s lawyer will file a bail plea in the session court on Thursday. If sources are to be believed, Joshi has changed his lawyer. Earlier, he had hired SC Sharma now he has hired advocate SS Negi in this case.State Director General of Police BS Sidhu had said on Tuesday evening that in the primary investigations of counter FIR lodged by the Joshi, it has been observed that complainant woman had made a CD of them in a compromising situation to blackmail Joshi.
Meanwhile, Dehradun Suddhowala Jail Superintendent MS Gwal said that all jail inmates were given the same treatment. Sources said that on Tuesday night, Joshi had stayed with six other inmates who were brought to the jail on the same day. After his arrival in the Jail, Joshi underwent a medical check up as per jail rules. As this case is high profile, jail officials seemed reluctant to divulge information regarding Joshi.Earlier, DGP Sidhu said, “Joshi had cooperated with the special police team since this case came to light. Whenever police team needed his recorded statement in the investigations, Joshi was available. As of now we do not need police custody of Joshi.”

The accused was, earlier, presented before the court of CJM Rajiv Kumar on Tuesday evening from where he was sent to 14-day judicial custody. Critics opined that with the clamour rising from opposition leaders, social groups, Joshi was arrested by the police after around 10 days of the case being filed by the complainant.
