The decision of the State Government to shift the office to HNB medical education university in the campus of GDMC and the instant opposition expressed by the Principal brought to the fore the resentment that had been simmering inside him for quite some time. It is learnt that ever since the appointment of Dinesh Dhanai as medical education minister, the Principal was finding it tough to act in sync with him. The Principal had a good understanding with Principal Secretary Om Prakash but things turned difficult for him after the Government took away the charge of medical education department from Om Prakash recently.
However, most of the staff members of the college appear to be with the Principal on the issue. “Nowhere have we seen that the office of Vice- Chancellor of a University is running inside building of a medical college. The Principal is right in his objection of the move. It would become very difficult to run the college if the bureaucracy continues to intervene in such an illogical way,’’ said one of the staff members.
