Preparing to try their luck in local body elections, politicians from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) want to beat one another in extending Holi wishes to citizens. In their attempt to beat one another in the undeclared contest, they have got fixed big hoardings carrying Holi messages at prominent locations.
Such hoardings are visible on all major locations, including Chakrata Road, Station Road, Rajpur road and other major routes. The politicos, who cannot afford the hoardings, have managed their show of extending wishes with the mini posters. It seems that nobody wants to miss the opportunity to wish the people.
A politician from Congress suggested not reading between the lines. “Don’t read between the lines.” He said though there was no election last year, same number of banner and poster carrying Holi wishes were set up across the city,” the politician remarked, extending holi wishes to one and all.
With folded hand, top politicians along with their supports, are trying to earn the favour of people in future with the help of Holi messages. “It seems that either of the parties—The BJP and the Congress, both have entered into a different sort of contest that is extending Holi wishes by setting up big hoardings,” Vijaykant Dwivedi, a common man, said.
Instead of wasting money on bringing such big hoardings, the two parties should have utilized the funds in some welfare activities, he suggested. They could have purchased clothes for the poor children whose parents couldn’t afford new clothes for them even on Holi, Dwivedi said, adding that it would have been better use of money.
