Poor health service conditions persist at Govt hospitals

PNS

The issue of poor health services have again come to the fore at the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College, Haldwani after the Chief Minister Harish Rawat conducted a surprise visit to this facility here on late Wednesday night.

Taking a note of the empty beds there, Rawat asked its officials not to make  this hospital a referral centre. Rather, the patients coming here from the hilly areas  for treatment must be provided with due care, he affirmed. Only 10 to 12 percent patients should be referred, he added.

There is no scarcity of necessary resources in this hospital. But there is no transparency in the hospital management. That has to be rectified, the Chief Minister  said.  What is worrisome is that several of the patients who throng it from far- flung areas for  treatment are referred to other facilities to their woes,  he regretted. Asking the officials concerned to improve quality of service, the Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate Nainital Deepak Rawat to install an electronic complaint box to enable the patients to register complaints.

He also asked the district administration Nainital to review these complaints on monthly basis and send a report to him so that due corrective measures can be taken.
