The political scene of zila panchayat has again heated up after the state government sent a notice to the zila panchayat chairperson Savita Chaudhary in connection with the alleged scam worth crores of rupees. The notice has been slapped after the probe was over, said the government sources. The reply has been sought within seven days failing which action would be taken.

Speaking to The Pioneer, the additional chief officer, zila panchayat Rajeev Kumar Tripathi confirmed that notice has been issued to zila panchayat chairperson Savita Choudhary and she has been asked to give response in seven working days.

Meanwhile, zila panchayat becoming a hotbed of intrigues these days, questions are being cast on the zila panchayat committee formed during the Congress regime. It is noteworthy that after the irregularities surfaced in the distribution of shops allotted by the zila panchayat, the state government had taken action against Savita Chaudhary and subsequently the responsibilities of running the zila panchayat had been given to a three- member committee. However, later, the court had stepped in and given some kind of a reprieve to Savita Chaudhary. Now once again, notice has been slapped on Savita Chaudhary regarding a scam allegedly running into over Rs 10 crores, lending a new turn to the dragging controversy.

Quizzed over the notice, Savita Chaudhary said that the state government has been troubling her and trying to put spanner in the developmental works undertaken by her in her tenure. “But I would not be cowed down by such notices. I would continue to fight for justice till the end,” she averred.
