Based on CCTV footage, Dehradun police have arrested a thief and recovered seven lPG cylinders stolen from his possession on Friday. The accused was apprehended by the police when he was selling stolen cooking gas cylinders. A woman named Saroj Rawat registered a report in Nehru Colony Police Station, stating her cooking gas was stolen by some unidentified persons.
In course of investigation, police reviewed some CCTV camers which were installed in the locality. It was found that a person was carrying a cylinder from Saroj’s house. Police received a tip-off about a person selling cylinders in the locality. Police acted on and arrested the person after he failed to answer satisfactorily. The accused has been identified as Rachit Verma and based on his information, police recovered seven cylinders from his possession. The accused was sent to Suddhowala jail after being presented in the court, said Omveer Singh Rawat, in-charge Nehru Colony.
