In Haridwar and Dehradun districts, police have been directed to conduct vehicle checking drives at inter-state borders, inter-district borders and other important places.

Sources said that fugitives of the jail break might have taken shelter in hideouts in Haridwar and from there might have gone to Kumaon.

Meanwhile, a Special Operation Group (SOG) team from Haridwar has been sent to Punjab to collect more information regarding the same.

Moreover, a team of 10 police officers from Patiala reached Haridwar on Thursday to probe into the possibility of the jail break fugitives hiding somewhere in Haridwar.

It is learnt that the police of Haridwar and Punjab are working together, sharing information. The visits followed the startling recovery of Punjab Police uniforms from Roorkee. Roorkee CO SK Singh said on Thursday that verification drives are being conducted in hotels, restaurants, asharms, temples and mosques aside from the residential areas, particularly the slums.

The vehicles are being checked at inter-district border, inter-state borders and other places to nab Sunil who had given shelter to Gurvinder who is supposed to be the mastermind of the audacious jail break.    SP City Ajay Singh said that verification drives have been launched in various places in the district. Such drives are also being conducted particularly in the posh areas by the local police station officers concerned.  As per Police Act, challans are being issued to the house owners who have not informed police about the identities of those who are staying in their houses on rent, SP City said.
