While police claimed to have made some progress regarding the ATM cloning cases  STF Uttarakhand SSP Ridhim Aggarwal met  the police officers of various police stations, SOG, STF, cyber police stations and cyber experts on Tuesday to discuss the progress reports over the lodged FIRs with the officers.   A work-plan was drafted too with  the police officers being given necessary instructions to crack such cases at the earliest. Notably, amounts have been allegedly spirited away from the accounts of more than 80 persons based  in the provisional state capital.

As per the report, 80 cases have been registered in various police stations — 56 in Nehru Colony, 12 in Raipur, eight in Kotwali, three in Dalanwala and one in Patelnagar police stations. Besides, five zero FIRs have been registered at cyber police station regarding ATMs cloning cases following which  such cases have been transferred to the police stations of Dehradun for investigation.

Police said that they have recorded the statements of the complainants whose  money was allegedly spirited away. Besides, the ATMs have been identified where cloning had allegedly  taken place. CCTV footages from the ATMs concerned are being taken and the photographs of the suspects are being recovered, police said, adding that the photographs of the suspects are being matched with the persons who were earlier nabbed in connection with  the ATM cloning cases in the past. Two teams deployed Delhi and Jaipur have recovered CCTV footages of the ATMs from where money was illegally withdrawn by fraudsters.
