Police deployed after property dispute

PNS

In a bizarre turn of things, Nirmala Chhawni located in Sri Panchayati Nirmal Akhada  premises has been fortified with deployment of forces after the long-continuing property dispute involving two factions of the akhada remained unsolved despite intervention of the apex body of the Hindu sects, Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad.  The district administration has deployed provincial armed constabulary (PAC) jawans on the akhada premises as a precautionary measure.

Police force and PAC personnel have been deployed following the dispute which arose after one faction of Nirmal Akhada seers went to install close circuit cameras at Nirmala Chawani in the face of resistance from  the other  faction. Police have warned them of stern  action if  peace is disturbed. The akhada is divided into two factions-one loyal to  the   akhada president Gyan Dev Singh and the other to the secretary Baldev Singh. Both the groups are accusing each other of misusing the akhada’s land for their own benefits.

The matter surfaced a month ago when Mahant Gyan Dev had removed Baldev Singh from the post of the secrtary and the matter had got embroiled in litigation.  Dev had alleged that a part of the akhada’s land was given to the builders for making flats by Balwant Singh while keeping the president in the dark, a charge   vehemently denied by Balwant Singh who said that  the  president was instead involved in the sell- out of lands to some builders.

Speaking of the matter CO Kankhal J P Juyal said, “On receiving information, we rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A section of PAC personnel has been deployed at Nirmala Chawani. The main office of the akhada at Kankhal already is under the police scanner and cops are deployed to maintain law and order. A warning has been issued to the akhada factions of strict action if they try to disrupt peace in any manner.”
