A case was registered at Sahaspur police station on Tuesday under the Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Local police have arrested one accused and recovered the firearm that was used while two others are still at large. The accused has been identified as 24 years old Sumit, a native of Shahajahanpur in Uttar Pradesh while the victim and the complainant is Rahul Panwar.
Station in-charge of Sahaspur police station PD Bhatt said, “The firearm that we have recovered is un-licensed. The victim in this case is a labour contractor. He and the accused both were having a discussion, during which the accused got aggressive and fired a round at him. The crime happened at about 10:30 PM on Monday. The investigation is ongoing.”
According to the information provided by the local police, Panwar in his complaint stated that late on Monday night he was going home from Selaqui to Dhulakot when Sumit who formerly worked on the position of supervisor at his enterprise asked him to meet near old post office. Soon after he reached there he was ambushed by Sumit, Aakash and Jogendra who started thrashing and him and then fired a round.
