The BJP candidate from Garhwal lok Sabha seat and former Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri stressed on Wednesday that the lok Sabha election 2014 would be important one in the history of democracy of Independent India.
The people of the nation and the State are frustrated and dissatisfied with the governance of the Congress and are now waiting to get rid of politicians who have not delivered.Addressing the media here, Khanduri said the public was fed up with 67 years of Congress rule and wanted to change the government for the betterment of common man and to get rid problems like price rise and corruption which have been exacerbated under the UPA I and II governments.
“The Modi wave has spread across the nation due to his personality and mental make up. The general public expectation is that a change in the government will bring back the prestige of the nation. Our neighbouring country beheaded our soldiers along the border but the Union Government remained apathetic. After forming the government, the BJP will rebuild the national prestige, provide relief from price hike and eradicate corruption. The Prime Minister is a good person, but does not act as a responsible PM,” he said.
lambasting the Congress-led State Government, Khanduri said that little work has been done in the disaster affected areas of Uttarakhand to provide relief to the victims of June 2013 disaster. For the last three years, UPA Government has not provided money for the construction of roads to Border Roads Organisation which could not maintain roads due to shortage of funds.
“The Government intends to resume the Char Dham Yatra in the first week of May but the routes to Badrinath and Kedarnath are still not ready eights months after being struck by disaster. The State government lacks a vision for development while the corruption graph is consistently rising. The Congress government cancelled the transfer policy implemented by BJP State government during my tenure as Chief Minister and due to this there is shortage of teachers and doctors in the mountainous districts of the state,” he said.
Khanduri expressed confidence about the BJP winning all the five seats in Uttarakhand due to the changed thinking of voters. BJP State secretary Gyan Singh Negi, former MlA Brijmohan Kotwal, Matbar Singh Negi, Vinod Sachdev and other BJP leaders were also present in the Press conference.
