People furious over hike in fuel prices

PNS

Common people here on Sunday strongly expressed their disappointment over hike in the prices of petroleum products, describing the Congress led UPA Government as anti-people.

Though motorists could be seen thronging the petrol pumps since morning here on Sunday to get the fuel as usual, hike in prices of both petrol and diesel came as quite disappointing experience for them particularly for those who have to travel long distance by their vehicles everyday. I have to travel from Haldwani to Nainital by motorcycle everyday for marketing works and on an average I have to travel over 150 km every day. That is why a hike of Rs 2.35 per litre in petrol prices is a costly affair for me, said Pankaj Rautela.

The matter of fact is that this hike in petrol and diesel prices will not only burden our travelling expenses but also further escalate prices of the essential commodities, Rautela further said. For State-like Uttarakhand whose economy is already in a poor shape following devastating natural disaster that occurred this rainy season, such hike in fuel prices can’t come in handy to put its economy back on track, as the people here believe.

As per the revised fuel prices, the cost of the petrol in city like Haldwani has gone upto Rs 76.44 per litre, while the diesel prices have reached here upto Rs 54.50 per litre.
