Addressing a large public gathering in Kotdwar on Monday the BJP national president Rajnath Singh expressed concern at the condition of the nation while stressing that the people of the nation are frustrated with 55 years of Governments headed by the Congress.
The common man has suffered a lot in the 10 years under the UPA regime with many scams being exposed. Stressing that the BJP wants to focus on facilitating development of the nation, Singh assured that a specific Himalayan development model will be implemented in the Himalayan States if the BJP forms Government at the Centre.
“In 10 years of UPA Government, the Central Government has failed in all spheres and people are facing severe hardships due to price rise and corruption. The national prestige in the international community has been affected by the UPA Government’s failure to respond effectively to incursion by China and Pakistan. Our neighbouring country Pakistan beheaded Indian soldiers along the border, but the Union Government remained apathetic,” he said.
Continuing his attack on the Congress, Singh said that the Congress had ruined the nation. He also pointed out that the NCP and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had criticised the UPA Government’s decision to appoint a retired judge to inquire into the alleged illegal phone tapping of a woman in Gujarat on the grounds that the timing was wrong.
Targeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said that the problems of price rise and corruption were exacerbated under her leadership of the UPA. Requesting the public to vote for the BJP, he said that the BJP will control price rise and eradicate corruption if elected to power. BJP Garhwal candidate Maj Gen (retd) BC Khanduri was also present on the occasion which also saw some local Congress leaders and workers joining the BJP.
