Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay has stronglycondemned the statements made by BJP leaders regarding the appointment of Information Commissioners. He also criticised the leader of Opposition for not attending the meeting held regarding the information commissioners.

In a statement released to the media, the PCC chief said that when the BJP is in office, it observes different standards and criteria but these standards are not used for others. He stated, “The BJP State Government was in office in Uttarakhandfrom 2007 to 2012 but during that time the present leader of opposition did not remember the issues which he is raising now. This makes it appear as if the BJP is aiming to delay the appointment of information commissioners by trying to raise a dispute on the issue. The Congress led UPA government had facilitated the Right to Information Act to check corruption. Using this Act many people have become prominent personalities and even Chief Minister,” said Upadhyay.

The PCC chief said that the failure of the BJP led NDA government to appoint achief information commissioner at thecentre shows how serious the BJP istowards ensuring transparency in administration and governance.
