The Uttarakhand PCC president Kishore Upadhaya urged the party’s Pauri unit to gear up for the upcoming Assembly poll by strengthening the organisation from the grass root level. He stressed on turning Uttarakhand a BJP- free state while exhorting the party activists to plunge into the saffron cleansing work right from the village panchayat levels. He said that the sameelan was focused on three points. They are strengthening the party organisation at the grass roots, campaigning vigorously for the development the state government has undertaken for the people under the leadership of the Chief Minister Harish Rawat and finally exposing the BJP to make it to kiss the dust in the ensuing electoral battle. Upadhaya expressed gratitude to the people for standing solidly behind the Congress when the Harish Rawat government was ousted on unethical grounds by a hostile Centre. “Uttarakhand as a state incurred huge losses during the political turmoil the state was steeped in for around two months. The state suffered a loss to the tune of Rs 3200 crore for one year due the Centre’s policy. The Centre has given us nothing to take on the loss the recent spell of disaster has inflicted. They are unresponsive regarding our demand for green bonus,” the state Congress chief said.
He further said that things that have churned out during the district conference would be deliberated upon at the party’s state level conference to be held in October to be attended by the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to firm up the election strategy for the upcoming battle.
