Pauri District Magistrate Chandresh Kumar has taken action on the findings stated in the inquiry report submitted by inquiry officer- Additional District Magistrate regarding the irregularities in the appointments of teachers in the private aided secondary schools of the district and cancelled the said appointments of the teachers.

The District Magistrate has instructed the chief education officer to cancel the appointment of the teachers with immediate effect and issue order for terminating their service. Chandresh Kumar also directed officials to take legal action against the principals and managers of the institutions that had provided false facts and forged certificates used to orchestrate irregularities in the appointment procedure.

FIRs should be lodged against such principals and managers, he stressed. The DM instructed the finance officer (Secondary Education) Pauri, to withhold the salaries of teachers in question and produce information about the amount paid in salary to these teachers up to December 2013, so that it could be submitted to the State government and Education Directorate for recovery. This amount will be recovered from the officers found responsible for the irregularities.

The inquiry report submitted by Additional District Magistrate Navneet Cheema to District Magistrate revealed irregularities in the teaching certificates submitted by the applicants appointed to the posts of lT and lecturer grade. While some applicants gave no bank statement of salary during the duration for which the applicant presented the experience certificate, some gave only account number without mentioning name of the bank.

The teaching experience accounted for two marks per year of work experience due to which many suitable candidates were left behind. Even the certificate of sports, NSS and others documents submitted by some applicants were merely self attested. Cheema’s report had recommended legal action against the selection committee members and the Education department officers who ignored the verification of the documents while giving the approval to the lT and lecturer posts appointments in the different institutions and recommended cancellation of the appointment of 86 teachers in 27 institutions.

According to sources, it had also been alleged that some of those appointed had paid up to Rs 15 lakhs in bribe for being appointed to teaching position.
