Hitting out at the Congress party for creating disruption in the Monsoon session of the Parliament, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Friday slammed Congress chief Sonia Gandhi saying that she has always talked about women empowerment, but she herself is disrespecting women.

“Sonia Gandhi had leveled false allegation against Union Foreign Minister Sushma Sawraj, who is also a daughter of Haryana. The Congress boycotted Sushma Swaraj in the Parliament and did not let her answer the allegations as they just wanted her resignation which is highly condemnable,” said the Chief Minister while addressing a Press conference here.

Condemning the attitude of Congress in the Parliament recently, he said that by stalling the proceedings, the Opposition party had wasted the valuable time of the House. Instead of raising issues of public interest, Congress had raised non-issues just to hide its own wrongdoings, he alleged.

He added that efforts would be made to bring a referendum so that no party could stall the proceedings and waste the valuable time of the House.

While referring to Haryana, the Chief Minister made it clear that BJP would not do politics of vendetta but would bring all the misdeeds of previous Congress government in front of the people and initiate action as per the law.

During the last 10 months of the present State Government, the State Vigilance Bureau has initiated inquiry into 125 cases. Prominent among these are Kaushalya Dam scam, Shyamlat land scam and scam in allotment of industrial plots in Panchkula, irregularity  in the recruitment of HCS officers, MNREGA scam of Ambala, scam of government land in NIT Faridabad, said he.

Picking apart the previous government, Manohar lal said that they (Congress) have started an industry in the name of ClU. The present government has received a number of complaints regarding the issuance of ClUs and facts are being collected and it would soon be made public.

Referring to the alleged land deal between DlF and Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said that the Government has already set up a one-man Commission of Inquiry headed by retired judge SN Dhingra to probe the issues concerning the grant of commercial license in Sector 83 (Shikohpur), Gurgaon. Similarly, he has ordered inquiry into the Raxil Scam.

Apart from this, the government has decided to transfer the case to CBI in which the farmers of two villages of Manesar had made a complaint that they have been forced by some influential people to sell their 912 acres of land by threatening them to acquire their land, said Manohar lal.

Talking about the loss of power utilities in the state, the Chief Minister said that he felt that corruption is behind the huge losses as the utilities are reeling under loss of Rs 28,000 crore.

Alleging that none of the previous Chief Ministers gave attention to this issue and instead, encouraged people not to pay their power bills just to seek votes in the elections, Manohar lal said that we have started a scheme namely ‘ Mahra Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ under which power supply upto 24 hours would be ensured in the villages which would pay their bills.

On being asked about the amendments made in Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, the Chief Minister said that decision is being appreciated by all.

As per the amendments, the educational qualification for candidates contesting the election has been fixed as 10th class whereas it would be class 8 for women and Scheduled Castes candidates. Apart from this only those who have paid their electricity dues and have toilets at home would be eligible to contest these elections.

This experiment had earlier been done in other states also and we have implemented it, to bring reform in the functioning of PRIs, said the Chief Minister while adding that about three lakh people are expected to fill forms for election to PRIs.

During hi visit to Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Panchanad Shaheedi Smark at village Masana. The Smark would be constructed in the memory of those martyrs who had lost their lives during partition of India.

On the occasion, he said that Panchanad Shaheed Smark would apprise our young generation about the contribution made by our martyrs and also inspire them to follow the  path shown by them,.
