Parents up in arms against private school operators

PNS

Dejected at the callous attitude of State Government on the long drawn agitation against the private school operators, the All Uttarakhand Parent’s association has threatened to intensity its stir in coming days. The President of the association Niraj Singhal said that the parents though fed up with the fact that the education department has done nothing to clip the wings of the private school operators who are engaging in open loot, are determined to continue their agitation with renewed vigor.

He said that the association would soon undertake Dharnas at the residences of ministers to press for their demands. Singhal informed that the association is planning to open at least 100 branches in different schools of Dehradun. “We at present have 30 branches, once we reach the figure of 100 we would become potent force and the government would not ignore our demands”, he said. The association has also filed a writ petition against the private schools in High Court (HC) on which first hearing is slated on May 15.

Meanwhile the association continued with its agitation on Tuesday as parents of Ann Mary and Shalini School met the Principals and asked them to roll back increase in fee and set up Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The association is of the view that the education department should implement the old GO which restricts the private schools from increasing fees every year and mandates that every school should have a PTA which should be involved by the schools in setting up the fee structure.
