Panic at registry court in city

PNS

Panic erupted in the court campus on Monday when a person who came with a group to have a piece of land registered threatened a munshi while flaunting a gun. Advocates preset there rushed and caught the person. However, by the time police arrived the person fled.

Persons belonging to two groups assembled at the registry office, but they squabbled over some trifles. In the heat of the moment, one among them took out a gun and flaunting it, threatened the munshi of dire consequences. Panic ensued in the court campus, leaving advocates and others scared.  However, later, the firearm was found to be an air-gun. Sources said that the person was angry over the delay in the registry of the land. Advocates gathered and protested against the incident.

CO Manoj Kumar Katyal said that no complaint has been received from the advocates over the issue. An FIR will be lodged against the accused if complaint is received from the advocates, he added.

Notably, instances of attack on the lawyers are on the rise in Dehradun and other places. An advocate and DBA auditor Ashutosh Gulati was allegedly manhandled by some unidentified persons in Jhanda Bazaar over a parking tiff in July. Protesting against it, the lawyers attached to Dehradun Bar Association boycotted work. later, the lawyers working in Mussoorie court did the same over the allegation of Mussoorie SDM Swati Bhadauria having allegedly misbehaved with a senior advocate.
