To promote energy conservation an awareness programme the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has started a month long programme ‘ Saksham 2017’ .
The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharamendra Pradhan inaugurated the month long drive on fuel conservation (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) on January 16. The programme emphasizes on the need for self-sufficiency in the oil and gas sector. An ONGC communiqué claimed that more than five lakh school children and youth across the country will be actively involved in the awareness drive and programmes associated with it. This is for the first time that the Government of India has changed the campaign format from Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) to ‘Saksham’ for creating a strong brand towards fuel conservation.
