The Medical Education Department has decided to introduce one academic calendar for all three Government medical colleges of the State. A meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor (VC) of HNB Medical Education University Dr Saudan Singh was held at the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) on Thursday. In the meeting discussions on having a uniform academic calendar for the government medical colleges of Dehradun, Haldwani and Srinagar were held.
The Medical education director Dr Ashutosh Sayana said that in the meeting an understanding on having a similar academic calendar for all three colleges was reached between three colleges, university and the medical education department. He said that the calendar for entire duration of four and half years would be handed over the students at the time of admission from the next academic session. Dr Sayana informed that the calendar would have complete details of vacations, practical sessions, class room sessions and examination and effort would be made to strictly follow the calendar.
The calendar would be of immense benefit for the students as they would be prevented from undergoing ordeal of prolonged course completion and unnecessary delays.
The meeting was attended by the Principal of GDMC Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta, Principal of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali government medical College Srinagar Dr C M S Rawat and Principal of Government Medical College Haldwani Dr C P Singh Bhainsoda and senior officers of HNB Medical Education University and medical education department.
