With drinking water supply remaining disrupted in various parts of the region for many days, the State Education and Drinking Water Minister, Mantri Prasad Naithani, has asked all the officials concerned of the Bageshwar district administration to improve supply in the district on a priority basis.

Taking note of the drinking water crisis reported from Bageshwar district’s Kathayatwara region at a meeting on late Wednesday night in Bageshwar, Naithani asked officials of the Jal Sansthan, Bageshwar, to take necessary steps to restore the drinking water supply of the affected areas at the earliest. At the same time, he also asked them to repair all the non-functioning hand-pumps.

He also instructed officials to expedite works on the drinking water pumping schemes in the district. Meanwhile, with mercury surging up, drinking water supply remains disrupted in many parts of Haldwani city on Thursday, hitting normal life badly.  With tube-wells becoming faulty in Haldwani’s Dahariya area, the residents’ woe continues.

Things have remained the same in Haldwani’s Damuwadhunga, Pilikothi and adjacent areas for many days. Though Jal Sansthan officials claimed that water tankers were being sent to the affected areas, these alternative arrangements are proving inadequate.

The officials hope that the faulty tube-wells would be repaired soon. Power cuts going on for hours are adding to the people’s suffering with the tube-wells not working due to power outages.
