Members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) barged into the office of principal of DBS College on Monday over the issue of admissions.

The NSUI demanded that the college should give admissions in the vacant seats of I year science (Physics Chemistry Mathematics stream - PCM) on the first come first serve basis.

It is learnt that there were 108 seats in I year PCM course in General Category, out of which 30 seats remained vacant after the merit list was released by the college. The authorities later released a waiting list of 54 candidates for filling these vacancies.

The members of the NSUI are  demanded that either all the students of the waiting list should be given admission or the remaining seats should be filled with first come first serve basis. The refusal of the college administration enraged the students who forced closure of the college.

NSUI leader Vipul Gaur told The Pioneer that the college should have released the waiting list of only thirty students in first place. He informed that the NSUI would force the closure of the college on Tuesday also if the college authorities do not accept their demand.

The Principal of the college O P Kulshreshta said that what the students are demanding is against the principle of justice. He said that all the students of waiting list can not be given admissions and college would strictly follow merit while giving admissions.

Meanwhile the students belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also staged a demonstration in the college and demanded that the college administration should start evening classes so that the students who could not get admission in regular courses should be able to get admission in them.
