More than two dozen self-financing BEd colleges affiliated to the Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University have been served notices by the university seeking information on various aspects, including reported anomalies in admissions through the management quota, by November 22. Investigation of documents has revealed that many colleges admitted more than the sanctioned number of students through the management quota.
It should be mentioned here that many of the 28 BEd colleges affiliated to the university had not provided information to the university on various aspects including admissions through the management quota after the stipulated deadline as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.
In view of the stern stand taken by the university, all the colleges sent the required information to the university last week. When the university administration checked the documents submitted by the colleges, it was revealed that more than the sanctioned number of students was admitted by several colleges. However, complete information about the implementation of reservation in the admissions and entrance tests for management quota seats has not been provided.
The university has now sought all relevant information from the colleges in the prescribed format by November 22. The colleges have been warned of stern action by the university in case of carelessness.
The Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University Vice-Chancellor, Dr US Rawat, said that many of the affiliated BEd colleges had not provided correct information as sought. The required information has been sought from the colleges and action will be taken against the colleges that fail to provide the required information within the stipulated time period, he added.
