The Golden Jubilee Course re-union of 35th Regular and 2nd Emergency Courses held at IMA which was scheduled from December 19 to 20.
The event was filled with nostalgia for the officers who passed out from IMA in December 1963. A total of 80 officers from these courses with their wives officers attended this glorious
re-union.
Besides, the homecoming for these officers, a number of events were organized to mark this momentous occasion such as wreath laying at the IMA Memorial, Golden Jubilee Dinner, visit to IMA museum and group photographs.
IMA Commandant, lt Gen Manvender Singh, set the event rolling with the welcome address at Khetarpal Auditorium in a function held at IMA campus on Thursday.
During the address, he warmly welcomed the veterans and their wives to their Alma Mater and updated them of the progress made in the Academy since their
days as Gentlemen Cadets and the many ongoing
projects, which would transform IMA into a premier world class military training institution.
During the two days of bonhomie, the veterans relived the time spent together at IMA almost five decades ago.
Nostalgia made many an eye moist and for these proud veterans, time indeed stood still. To mark the occasion, the Golden Jubilee Course presented a memento to the Indian Military Academy and in turn, the Commandant, IMA presented each veteran with a specially designed photograph of now and then of Chetwode Building and IMA to remind them of their historic visit to IMA, & they were given IMA Cap as a souvenir.
These brave veterans have faced the brunt of two major wars of 1965 and 1971 in which many of their comrades made the supreme sacrifice to protect our nation. Many of these veterans were also wounded but continue to carry their scars with a smile on their face and pride in their hearts. The grateful nation raises its hand in salute to these exemplary warriors and urges the younger generation to follow their magnificent example.
