'No other animal is as loyal as the horse'

PNS

Mastani, Chanda and Bijli understand his all indications. They follow his orders like disciplined pupils. The three horses can take a round of the ground as soon as he passes signals for it. Horses understand his language and he knows them best. RK Nayal, in-charge stable at the Reserve police line, calls the horse most loyal and sincere animal on the earth.

“Mastani never disobeyed my order. I trust her the most. She has been put on duty in all VIP programme. Chanda and Bijli are equally sincere and talented. The trio performs their duty sincerely,” Nayal said, praising the trio among the lot of 13 horses.

Nayal likes Mastani the most. He gives him 100 per cent. “Horses are best friends of human being.  I think no other animal is as loyal as horse. It is very sensitive. It understands your mood. It always protects its master in case he gets into any problem,” he said. Nayal said that the trio never disappointed him. They always came true to his expectation. He said that during a parade, Mastani takes a round of the field and stops at the points where she has to.  “Horses are sensitive. So, they don’t accept anyone at once,” Nayal said.

He recalled how Mastani made him proud before a senior officer during a programme when it returned within few seconds after touching the gate as per his instructions. He said that all the horses in the stable were healthy and the trainers give them refresher course.

Machines can never match to living creatures. A motorcycle may meet the requirement of today’s fast life, but it could never be an alternative to the horses. “Machines don’t have emotions, while the creatures have. Role of the horses has decreased in current scenario, but they are still relevant as they can pass through narrow alleys and can move in tough terrains where bikes can not,” Nayal said.

He is mesmerized by the sincerity of the horses. “They are like children for me. I ensure that they get food when on important duty. On several occasions, I transported grain for the horses when they were on duty,” he said, adding that after being friendly with the horse, it was impossible to ignore the horse.

His perception about the horses changed ever since he joined as in-charge of the stable in 2003. He understood the horses and found them wonderful creature that could do anything for his masters. “Horses are the most trusted friends. To make them friend, serve them honestly and the horses will pay back loyalty and trust,” Nayal said.
