No need to panic, says MDDA

In view of the recent order of the Uttarakhand high court quashing the notification regarding enforcement of the Dehradun master plan 2005-2025, the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has sought directions from the State administration.

Officials stress that home owners and others need not panic as the master plan itself has not been cancelled.

Necessary procedure as pointed out in the high court order will be followed, said the officials.

It will be recalled that on June 15, the high court had annulled the government notification regarding enforcement of the Dehradun master plan. This decision had caused some concern among home owners and others who were under the impression that their homes constructed after approval from the MDDA would become illegal. However, the MDDA vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav said that there is no need to panic. He said, “The high court has quashed the notification regarding enforcement of the master plan but the master plan itself has not been quashed. The permission of the Ministry of Environment and Forests is to be taken for the master plan. We have sought directions from the state administration and expect to receive the same in a couple of days. The situation will be clearer in a few days,” he added.
