PNS

The executing agencies will not be allowed to dig roads deep unless a committee headed by the District Magistrate approves it. The committee consists of officers from the Public Works Department, Asian Development Bank, MDDA, Municipal Corporation, National Highway, Jal Sansthan, Jal Nigam, Electricity, Telecommunication and police, said Dehradun district magistrate Ravinath Raman while presiding over a meeting with officers of executing agencies here in Dehradun on Tuesday.

He expressed disappointment with officials for excavating roads at various places, causing inconvenience to the vehicle users and local residents in the city. He directed the district officers to complete the construction works apart from filling the potholes promtly. Due to excavating of roads, old sewerage line, payjal line and telephone line are being damaged and local residents are bearing the brunt of things with the officers looking the other way. He further said that executing agencies should also seek permission from the Public Works Department for repair of roads, which they have excavated for completing their projects.
