No action yet in case of sexual exploitation of woman at workplace in Patelnagar

SR

The district administration is yet to form a committee for the investigation of a case wherein a woman employee had registered a report of sexual exploitation against a driver and storekeeper at her work place in July last year in Patelnagar police station. This is flying in the face of the Supreme Court ruling that stressed on formation of committee to probe alleged rape at workplace.

Despite the investigating officer reminding the DM several times, nothing has happened so far. Moreover, the same woman employee had registered a molestation case under sections 354, 452 and 504 of IPC against regional labour commissioner in Patelnagar police station two days ago. The Patelnagar Police Station inspector Pankaj Gairola said that a woman sub-inspector lalita Tomar is investigating the case.

However, Dehradun DM Chandresh Kumar was found unavailable over phone. When contacted, additional DM Jharna Kamthan pleaded his ignorance of the case. SI lalita Tomar said that she is investigating the case and earlier, the same woman had registered a case of sexual exploitation against department store keeper and driver in July last year.

She said then investigating officer had conducted investigation over alleged rape and as per Supreme Court ruling, a letter was sent to Dehradun DM in October to form a committee over alleged rape of the woman at the work place. No committee has been formed by DM so far, she added. According to her, she was handed over the case a few months ago and she keeps submitting reminders to the DM every 15 days.
