NGO accused of indulging in illegal activities

PNS

Advocate Vijay Anand Sharma has accused Samadhan NGO of being involved in various irregularities. He alleged that the NGO is not registered and is conducting various illegal activities.

Sharma alleged that Renu D Singh and her husband Sanjeev Singh are operating the NGO Samadhan for women without registration and are involved in various illegal activities through the organisation.

He averred that the NGO president also uses another identity-Renu Sarkar while her husband also uses another identity- Sanjeev Sarkar. According to Sharma in 2008 Singh had sent an application in the name of Renu Sarkar to Mussoorie

Dehradun Development Authority regarding an unauthorised construction in which she had stated that with a monthly income of about Rs 12,000 from giving tuitions to poor children and conducting religious rites.

As her husband was unemployed, she would not be able to deposit the compounding charge of Rs 1,31,147 in lump sum, she had written in the application to MDDA.

Sharma also presented various documents to the media against the Singh couple which he said had been procured through the Right To Information Act. According to amendment 10 sec (1) of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005, only the NGO registered under Society Registration Act 1860 have the right to function for protection of women from domestic violence.

Sharma averred that information provided by the Deputy Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits, Dehradun under the RTI Act revealed that there is no NGO called Samadhan operating from Rajpur Road, Dehradun but no action had been taken against this organisation, he said.

According to Sharma, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued many letters against Samadhan to the Secretary of Women and Child Welfare department and District Magistrate but no action was taken by either against Singh.

He further alleged that on November 22, 2012 a fake FIR was registered against him for acid attack by Renu D Singh, his estranged wife Nandini Sharma and others but later the case was withdrawn by Singh after he had collected evidence against her.

He questioned why the authorities in Dehradun are not taking action against Singh and her organisation after investigating and ascertaining whether the allegations against them are true.
