Residents of the Shivaji Marg located near Bindal river were shocked on Sunday morning when some of them spotted a newborn baby girl thrown near the river. The baby, badly injured, was heard crying. The baby was rushed to the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital by the local councillor Vishal Kumar. However, despite all efforts of the doctors, the baby died later in the day.
The medical superintendent (MS) of GDMC Hospital, Dr K K Tamta said that the baby was kept in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit ( NICU) of the hospital but the child died during the course of the treatment. The cantonment police under whose jurisdiction the area where the child was found is has registered a case. The police officers said that they were trying to identify the person who had thrown the baby there.
