Irked over issuance of new ration cards replete with errors, dozens of new ration card holders reached the Food and Civil Supply office here and expressed outrage and demanded the rectification of such errors without delay.
The protesters warned that they will intensify their protest unless department corrects the errors soon. Rajpur resident SS Singh, alleged that the department officials do not entertain citizens reaching the office for the rectification of their ration cards. To rectify errors in the new ration cards, the card holders are making several rounds of the department but have not yet been able to get the work done.
In most cases, visitors are told by department officials to return the next stating that the officials concerned are on leave. The department officials are said to have made the new ration cards in a hurry which is why many of them have errors in names and address of cardholders. In several ration cards, department’s stamp is missing.
However, DSO Shyam Arya said that he had received such complaints from the cardholders and their ration cards will be rectified in some days.
It should be mentioned here that following the direction of Chief Minister Harish Rawat, the department will start distributing ration under National Food Security Scheme among
the intended beneficiaries from July 1.
