The idol of lord Narsinh will be ceremoniously reinstalled in the sanctum sanctorum of the Narsinh temple being renovated by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) in Joshimath. This ceremony is slated to be held on the occasion of Baisakhi next month.

The ancient temple believed to have been established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the eighth century, had suffered some damage as a result of natural disaster after which the renovation work was started during the year 2012.

The idol of Narsinh in this ancient shrine is made of a Shaligram stone and said to be the only one of its kind in the country. The BKTC began work on renovating the shrine damaged by natural disaster in 2012.

The original building of the temple was constructed in a sobre style but now it is being renovated in the Himadri style. The Chief Executive Officer of the BKTC BD Singh said that the work of renovation of the Narsinh temple is in its final stages.

The total cost of the temple renovation is about Rs7 crore. On the occasion of the coming Baisakhi, the lord Narsinh will be ceremoniously installed in the renovated shrine.
