Even as the Chandigarh BJP leaders have been pulling out all stops to market “Narendra Modi for PM” message across the city, the party’s prime ministerial candidate still finds no place on the official website of Chandigarh BJP.
At the time when the city BJP leaders have put their heart and soul to promote Modi in the city, the Chandigarh party unit seems to be oblivious of the fact that their much loved leader Modi is not at all visible on its official website. Though Modi was announced as party’s PM candidate in September 2013, it seems the announcement’s celebrations and innovative campaign ideas to grab the media attention kept the city party leaders preoccupied since then.
The party’s official website, which does not even mention the name of Modi, displays pictures of party’s national president Rajnath Singh, senior leader lK Advani and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and even has a page dedicated to the stories of these veteran party leaders. Interestingly, the city party leaders have invaded the social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to promote themselves and Modi, albeit, they have completely forgotten to give a place to their favorite leader on the official website of party.
Right from day-to-day happenings with pictures, videos among others to attention-grabbing posters of Modi, everything is made available on the Facebook and twitter page of the party leaders. On the other hand, the Chandigarh BJP website is not updated from past few months. While other State/city party units have been keeping people updated about every event of their PM candidate Modi before lok Sabha elections, the Chandigarh BJP seems to be left far behind in the race.
While senior party leaders refrained from commenting on this, Chandigarh BJP IT Cell Convener Deepak Malhotra said, “The party is planning to redesign the official website. And, the redesigned website would be launched within this month.” He said, “The matter has been discussed with the party leadership and a redesigned website with new pictures, columns will be launched shortly.”
For the past few months, city BJP leaders have gone into overdrive to endorse NaMo ahead of the lok Sabha elections 2014. From their “tea vendors’ campaign” to “Modi bricks”, the local leaders are actively campaigning for its PM candidate by embracing all kinds of innovative campaigning ways. While the Chandigarh BJP official website does not display a single picture of Modi, the party has got printed special banners which would be put up across the roadside tea-stalls of the city supporting Modi’s candidature for the post of Prime Minister.
