The Nainital district magistrate Deepak Rawat addressed issues of the villagers after reaching the remote Kotli village in the Okhalkanda development block after covering a distance of about 12 kilometres on foot. Interacting with the villagers and listening to their issues, he assure them that necessary measures would be taken to resolve the issues of the people in the remote rural areas he reached after a four-hour long journey on foot.

The District Magistrate told the villagers that a proposal will be prepared in the near future for construction of a route from Nai village to Saun so as to enable tourists and other visitors to reach the Guru Brihaspati temple. Stating that supply of water through a water lifting system to the Salota area was necessary, he said that work would also be undertaken on this task. Rawat said that the Devguru Mandir Samiti has about five hectare land which is not being put to good use so a tea garden will now be grown on this land belonging to the temple. This will increase the income of the temple committee while also facilitate employment opportunities for the local unemployed persons, said the district magistrate. He further said that the Devguru temple has to be put on the international tourism map considering the otherworldly scenic beauty of nature which can be witnessed and enjoyed here. The Chota Kailash, Reetha Sahib and Aryabhatta Vaidhshala are also visible from a single location in this area, he said. Many of the villagers who raised their local issues with the district magistrate complained that the supply of drinking water was a major problem in the area. Apart from the water supply problem, the remote and damaged route from Nai village to Saun, totaling to about five kilometres in length is also another problem that was raised by the villagers with the district magistrate. During the district magistrate’s inspection, the district Panchayat member and Devguru committee head Bhuwan Chandra Kafaltiya informed Rawat about the work being undertaken by the body he heads. He shared information about the efforts stated to have been undertaken in the area towards the eradication of polythene waste.
