The Mussoorie Mountain Festival will be held from the May 18 to 20 with its focus on conservation as it relates to the Himalaya and other mountain ranges of the world. The event will bring together distinguished authors, photographers, mountaineers and conservationists for panel discussions, story sharing and open dialogue on topics related to the theme of conservation.
According to its organisers, the festival will also felicitate renowned mountaineer from Uttarakhand Chandraprabha Aitwal for her pioneering achievements over three decadesin the field of mountaineering and adventure education.
Initially founded with the aim of celebrating Mussoorie’s literary heritage, the festival has since redefined itself to become a broader mountain festival at the heart of which is a community celebration of Himalayan culture, natural history and exploration. The festival is brought to Mussoorie by the Hanifl Centre for Outdoor and Environmental Study. Founded in 2003, the Hanifl Centre was established to extend Woodstock School’s curriculum and to provide a facility and a programme through which students from the school and from around the world can learn about the Himalayas and develop their skills and knowledge in outdoor education.
