The accused former brother in-law of 28-year old Sunil Kumar, who was murdered on Tuesday evening, is still absconding. Police teams have been sent towards Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. According to police officials, as the accused Pawan Singh is a native of Ghaziabad, police teams have been sent there as well to ascertain his whereabouts.
Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said, “The accused has already been identified. Three to four teams are now attempting to arrest him.”
According to eye witnesses, the accused brother in-law was having an argument with Sunil who was protective of his divorcee sister. According to the statements given by victim’s family the accused Pawan used to repeatedly try to speak with his ex-wife, but Sunil used to prevent them from meeting. The argument and their family feud escalated and in a fit of rage he murdered him.
According to local police, a CCTV has captured the accused Pawan running from the street where he committed the murder, after that he was seen near Niranjanpur Mandi. On the basis of information the victim’s family has given and the intelligence police have gathered, they are now trying to nab the culprit.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the armed robbery case in Dev Jewellers at Premnagar on October 7, district police raided various locations to nab both the accused in Jharkhand, Bihar and other States, but failed to arrest noneof them.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi had earlier admitted lapses on police’s part in the case, and had promised better policing in the future. The accused were last reported vacationing in Goa, but the police teams have so far been unable to nab them.
