Indian Military Academy Commandant lieutenant General SK Jha revealed while interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of the Commandant’s Parade on Thursday that the number of youth applying for recruitment in defence services is more than the number of applicants for the competitive examinations, including those conducted under Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a trend which he described as interesting. Quizzed over the nature of the training of the Gentlemen Cadets, he said that there can be no short- cut. “Gentlemen Cadets during their training at IMA are exposed to multifarious activities such as weapon training, academic subjects, social media, drill, physical training, sports, outdoor camps and extracurricular activities. Apart from giving training on modern and advanced technology and on how to handle sophisticated weapons, stress is laid on helping them develop physical fitness and leadership qualities,” he said
