Monsoon is expected to arrive in Uttarakhand on June 22. A brief spell of rain at noon brought relief to Doon residents on Thursday. Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Dehradun and light to moderate rain/ thunder storm at a few places especially in hills of Uttarakhand on Friday.
Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma said that Uttarakhand received light to moderate pre-monsoon rainfall at isolated places on Thursday. Sharma outrightly rejected reports of heavy rainfall in Uttarkashi and high alert issued by the Met office as reported in some television news channels on Thursday.
A spell of shower on Thursday gave residents respite from draining sultry weather, enticing a few to get wet. The rainfall cooled down the atmosphere considerably for few hours. The met office attributed the rain to cyclonic circulation that developed on the border of neighbouring States.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 35.2°C and 26.2°C respectively in Dehradun on Thursday. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Friday is generally cloudy and rain/ thunder shower at isolated places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34°C and 25°C respectively on Friday in Dehradun. The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Friday is light to moderate rain/thunder storm at a few places. Rather heavy rainfall could occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand.
