Minister directs secretary to check, act on complaint against Rajaji vet

PNS

Following a letter from Union Minister Maneka Gandhi complaining about questionable conduct of veterinarian Dr Aditi Sharma deputed in Rajaji national park, the Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Rekha Arya has directed the departmental secretary to probe the matter and take necessary action.

Arya has also directed that clearance should be sought from her for future posting of Sharma in case her deputation period in Rajaji is over. It will be recalled that Gandhi had written to Arya stating that Sharma was acting in an unscientific and sadistic manner in dealing with wildlife. She had also cited the example of the tusker captured and being ‘trained’ in captivity in reportedly cruel and unscientific manner sans necessary clearance.
