In view of the possibility of hail/thunder squall lashing several places across Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours and heavy rain occurring at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts for three days from May 28, the Meteorological centre officials have issued advisory for Char Dham Yatris and the state government authorities, asking them to be alert. Uttarakhand Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that the rainfall activities might spawn landslides along the four-shrine pilgrimage routes. As per the forecast, showers would be heavy in three districts- Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag-which house the shrines during the three-day period.
Saturday too saw light to moderate rainfall at several places. Some places in the hills recorded heavy rain accompanied with hail/thunder squalls.
