Confirming the forecast of the searing heat eclipsing the past records during this summer, the mercury soared up to over 35 degree Celsius on Tuesday, breaking the record of the past six years. Things might turn more scorching in the coming days if the Met officials are to be believed.
Bikram Singh, director of Meteorological centre, said that the maximum temperature had settled at 35.2°C on Tuesday. In 2010, 35.7°C was recorded in March while it was 31.7°C in 2011, 34.0°C in 2012, 31.0°C in 2013, 31.2°C in 2014, 32.7 in 2015 and 34.6 in 2016.
However, following western disturbance, people may get relief on Wednesday evening as Meteorological centre has forecast light rain/thunder shower at isolated places especially in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand.
Dry weather will prevail on March 30 and 31. However, light to moderate rain/thunder storm has been forecast at a few places in Uttarakhand on April 1, Singh added.
