The people of Uttarakhand would have to brave scorching heat for the next two days. However, by way of a silver lining in the extremely trying situation, rain would occur sporadically across the State from June 9, said the Met officials based in Dehradun.

The spells of western disturbance-spawned rain would continue for a few days, Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre predicted. However, there would be no heavy downpour. light rain is expected, said the weathermen.  They further said they are still not in a position to say anything about the tentative time monsoon would finally set in in the State.

State Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma said the department officials are monitoring things and they would be able to say more of the onset of monsoon in Uttarakhand soon. He advised the people to take all sorts of precautions to avoid heat strokes and avoid moving outside at noon when the heat is extreme, as far as possible.

The rise in the mercury for the past few days has affected  normal life in various places across Dehradun district. Traffic thinned with the people choosing to stay indoors on Saturday.

Sharma said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 36.8°C and 23.1 °C, respectively in Dehradun on Saturday. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Sunday is mainly clear sky.
