The election of councillors to the executive and the development committees of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun was conducted on Thursday with members being elected unanimously without voting.
It is hoped that with the formation of the executive and the development committee, work will now start on facilitating the execution of developmental works in the MCD in the near future. While the executive committee comprises 12 members, the development committee comprises 10 members.
The BJP and Congress councillors filed nominations in the morning and the number was equal to the number of seats in the two committees.
Due to this the members were elected unanimously with seven members from the BJP and five from the Congress in the executive committee and six members of the BJP and four of the Congress in the development committee.
