A meeting was held at the social welfare auditorium in Dehradun on Wednesday, which was presided over by chief development officer Alok Kumar Pandey, to make the women registered under National Rural livelihood Mission economically stronger through commercial production of Marigold.
Addressing the meeting, CDO said that it is the first type of Yojana in the State by which the registered unemployed will be paid a wage rate through the scheme.
The earnings from the produced flowers will benefit the groups, he said, adding that the whole programme would be video graphed. If this Yojana is successful, they would launch other schemes involving other flowers and vegetables.
“These are under our active consideration,” he said. He also instructed the block development officers that the groups or individuals, seeking employment, whose job cards are yet to be made should be provided with the job cards immediately so as to enable them to avail the scheme at the earliest.
In course of the meeting, the detailed information for the efficient production of marigold seeds for marigold cultivation, soil species, climate, plant preparation, preparation of nursery for planting, manure and fertiliser, irrigation, weeding, pitching, weed control and pest control was provided by the parks department.
Sushil Mohan Dobhal, district development officer, Vineeta Negi, State project manager, NRlM, Ajay Agarwal from Ratan Tata Trust and members from some women Self Help Groups among those present during the meeting.
