During the third meeting of the expert committee for declaration of eco-sensitive zones held at the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi, to discuss the master plan of Mount Abu eco-sensitive zone, the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education suggested that eco-sensitive zones should be declared after wider scientific studies and wide ranging discussion with the local people with regards to their livelihood and developmental needs.
A separate chapter on public appraisal should be included in the master plan in which all queries/objections/suggestions made by the people of the affected villages should be included along with the details of the action proposed to be taken or the recommendation of the State Government on each such query/objection/suggestion.
